Matthew is now a Registered Representative through FINRA and holds life insurance licenses in over 20 states. His expertise lies in guiding individuals and small businesses through the often complex landscape of retirement planning. He is passionate about helping his clients clarify their dreams and goals, providing them with strategic pathways to achieve their desired outcomes.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Matthew is the Founder and President of The Great Giveback. The Great Giveback focuses on supporting young people in realizing their aspirations through physical activities, positive mentorship, and a strong emphasis on mental health awareness. Matthew's commitment to this cause underscores his belief in the power of community and holistic development in nurturing the potential of future generations.

Chibi Emejue, an 18-year-old African community leader and activist from Maryland, has emerged as a beacon of hope and strength for his community. Raised in an environment where communal bonds were weak, Chibi felt a profound call to action. Determined to foster unity and support, he committed himself to becoming a pillar of his community, guided by his faith and unwavering dedication to others.
Growing up, Chibi experienced firsthand the challenges of a fragmented community. Rather than being discouraged, these experiences fueled his passion for activism and leadership. Teshome Workagegnehu
Teshome Workagegnehu's journey from Ethiopia to the United States is a powerful testament to resilience, community, and unwavering generosity. Born and raised in Ethiopia, Teshome fled his homeland in his mid-20s due to political instability. He spent two challenging years as a refugee in Kenya before being granted asylum in the United States.
Teshome moved to Maine where he welcomed his first daughter. In 1997, he celebrated the birth of another daughter in Washington, DC, and in 2003, he was blessed with a son, also born in DC. A remarkable turn of events occurred when Teshome reunited with his high school sweetheart after 30 years of separation. Their reunion culminated in marriage, and Teshome embraced the role of fathering her three children, further expanding his loving family.
For over 25 years, Teshome has been a cornerstone of the Ethiopian community in Washington, DC. Teshome is often described as someone who would "give the shirt off his back" to help others. His contributions to the community are vast and varied, including organizing cultural events, providing mentorship to young Ethiopians, and assisting new immigrants in adjusting to life in the United States.
Teshome's life is guided by a deep sense of duty to his community and a belief in the power of kindness and support. Teshome continues to inspire others to contribute positively to their communities and uphold the values of generosity and compassion.
Erin Appiah
Erin has been apart of The Giveback Project since her sophomore year of high school, driven by a personal commitment to make a real difference in her community. Growing up in a single-parent household, Erin saw firsthand the sacrifices her father made to provide for her, which instilled in her a deep sense of responsibility; not just to her family but to others as well. His resilience and resourcefulness inspired Erin to give back, knowing that success doesn’t happen in isolation; it takes a supportive community and persistence.
With The Giveback Project, Erin focuses on providing educational resources, community outreach events and mentorship to underserved communities, hoping to make a tangible impact. Erin is passionate about leading with both heart and intellect, determined to take on big challenges while staying rooted in the needs of the people around her. For her, leadership is about serving others and lifting them up, and she’s committed to using her platform to help others reach their full potential.
Amari Briggs
At just 18 years old, Amari Briggs has dedicated his life to giving back and making the world a better place. Believing that true joy comes from the smiles created through acts of kindness, Amari strives to embody positivity and compassion in everything he does. His mission is to help others feel better, safer, and happier through his actions.
On March 1, 2023, Amari’s life changed when he was struck by a car, leaving him with a severely injured leg. After undergoing two surgeries and enduring months of rehabilitation, he relearned how to walk and run, overcoming challenges that many believed he couldn’t. This journey of resilience and faith has strengthened his resolve to support others facing similar struggles.
Guided by his faith in God, Amari is committed to inspiring hope and providing encouragement to those who feel trapped in their circumstances. His story is a testament to perseverance, and his unwavering smile reflects his belief that brighter days are always ahead.
